Rebecca Weston, MD, FAAP, IBCLC
Dr. Weston was born and raised in Morehead City, NC and was inspired at a young age watching her parents Terry and Helen Goodman provide medical care to the community for over 30 years. She completed her medical training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and residency training at Vermont Children’s Hospital in Burlington, VT. She then went on to practice pediatric hospitalist (inpatient) medicine for 5 years at Vermont Children’s Hospital and became an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Vermont Medical School. During her time there she developed additional expertise in breastfeeding medicine, quality improvement, and implementing statewide public health measures. In 2011, Dr. Weston attained Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification and one of her greatest joys is helping mothers achieve their own personal breastfeeding goals. For the past year, Dr. Weston had the privilege of providing pediatric care to military families at Naval Hospital Camp LeJeune. She is thrilled to join Oceanside Pediatrics and have the opportunity to serve the community in which she was raised. Dr. Weston strives to always put her patients’ needs first, taking time to hear and understand all their concerns, promote wellness, and deliver up to date, evidence-based care.
Dr. Weston is joined by her husband, Tim, her newborn baby, Elliot, and their two dogs, Molly and Miles, and her extended family in the area. In her free time, she enjoys biking, jogging, boating, trying out new recipes, and playing her flute in the Sunshine Band.
Dr. Weston specializes in breast-feeding along with our PA-C, Maureen Young. Both pediatric practitioners will be great assets here in our county, as the ONLY office-based IBCLC team. Your newborn now has a Breastfeeding Home here at OCEANSIDE PEDIATRICS to assist with any type of breastfeeding issue.
